Posting this does not equal total endorsement although clearly Civil War II finds value at the heart of the message.
This ‘smack in the face’ is refreshing. This video is a powerful, insightful, and telling critique of the state of American politics originally posted on Jan 7, 2021. The language is pretty intense and I don’t mean the swearing. The underlying message may be upsetting because it appears to be critical of America and we don’t like that coming from ‘foreigners’ whether it is earned or not. Criticism is not a bad thing given the scales between insight and offense lean decidedly to insight in this case. We should be more open to criticism. There is a lot to learn from the rest of the world - both in terms of adopting best practices as well as avoiding the worst. This message does not come from a position of hatred towards the US.
Indrajit Samarajiva, a writer in Sri Lanka, nails it when he says “The first step is simply accepting that you’ve been coup’d.” It took 18 months to cross that threshold in the US. When I started Civil War II people were not interested. They could not accept the premise. Its different now. Each time the news reveals new depths of the coup there is a surge of subscriptions.
Indrajit points to the bigger problem that many do grasp - that with or without Trump there is still a terrible crisis. One party in the two party system has gone full authoritarian. Until it splits into two parties - the ‘Q’ and ‘normies’ (‘real GOP’?) parties, the danger to democracy will continue.
There is also the ‘Desantis is just as bad’ theory. I dont subscribe to that. Yes, he is smarter than Trump, but he does not have the capacity to command mass psychosis that makes Trump’s grip on the Q movement and vice versa, so potent.
Keep an open mind. The video above has news you can use. Note the date he did all this! Links to his work below.
Here is a summation of the argument.
What is a coup? It’s literally a blow, a strike. Someone hitting your normal processes of government, trying to knock them over. The blow doesn’t have to succeed. It still wounds. As a recovering coup victim to another, let me tell you this. The first step is simply accepting that you’ve been coup’d.
I’m telling you, as someone that’s been there, you’ve already lost. It doesn’t matter if you get Trump out. He and the Republican Party are destroying trust in elections in general. This is catastrophic. You have no idea.
There’s a ticking bomb at the heart of your democracy now. Your government, the very idea of governance is fatally wounded. Chaos has been planted at its heart. I don’t know what this chaos will grow into, but I can promise you this. It won’t be good.
Think about it. Your system gives the loser all the power and guns for two whole months. Almost every modern democracy changes power the next day, to avoid the very situation you’re in.
