What is I&W?

As its name might suggest, Indicators and Warning or I&W, is a military intelligence term of art that is presented at update briefs when maintaining close watch of an opponent or enemy.

What is Domestic Terrorism?

To be considered domestic terrorism, as opposed to a mass shooting, an event must be politically motivated. The thesis of the book upon which this blog is based, Civil War II: From Insurrection to Insurgency, is that a combined political and paramilitary campaign is underway to subvert democracy and impose a dictatorship in the United States. The terrorist campaign will sit somewhere on the spectrum between the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland to the height of the insurgency in Iraq. In other words, from low level sporadic assassinations, all the way up to coordinated, synchronized, multiple target, multiple venue, vehicle borne IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) - like the attack on the American Embassies in Africa.

How Will We Know if the Domestic Terrorist Threat is Growing?

As the domestic terror threat metastasizes, there will be an escalation of scope and intensity of uncovered plots and attacks that are not prevented. In order to create instability, paramilitary forces will escalate from threats of violence against (say) election workers, already very common, to lone gunmen events, to evidence of group activities. When groups adopt a cellular terrorist structure - just like we fought in Iraq and Afghanistan - that will be a clear indicator things are getting out of control.

What Will be Listed?

All terror events - including threats of violence or plots stopped in the planning phase will be listed. Just because J6 failed to prevent the overturn of the election does not mean it was not a major domestic terror event. It was also hugely successful for its conspirators because they came so close to achieving their objectives. This has given them enormous inspiration to keep pressing for next time - because the goal was so close.

The List

I will try and keep a running list of I&W as it relates to the rise of domestic terrorism as outlined in Civil War II. This will be chronological. Due to resource constraints, it will be impossible to be comprehensive. However, even if it is an imperfect list, I think it is worth keeping track of the changing scope and scale of the threat as a reminder of what we are up against. I will post items as I find them. I encourage readers to submit articles from quality sources when I inevitably miss items.
