The most baffling thing about this situation is that they even told us what they were going to do! They published Project 2025 and people actually believed Trump when he said he didn’t know anything about the project, and yet somehow disagreed with parts of it. I shouldn’t be baffled because the Trump’s campaign used the Nazi propaganda playbook ever since he came down the golden escalator. I suppose I had hoped that Americans wouldn’t be so ignorant as to fall for this, but then remembered that the Republicans have been undermining education in general at least since Ronald Reagan’s time.

I totally agree with you, and I think that ignorance and distraction create the setting for denial. Once we commit ourselves to believe something, it is very difficult to accept that we may have been wrong.

There is nothing more powerful than a mind dedicated to denial. When reality is simply too unbearable, denial is a powerful coping mechanism. It is also the devils hand maiden.
