Deborah, i think the confusion here might be due to purpose. My education and life time experience has been concerned with producing national security assessments. These are neither optimistic or pessimistic. Their purpose is to advise national decision makers about emerging, converging or culminating threats. Intelligence does not provide policy solutions.
Now in the stacks, I present assessments for the public to have a better understanding of what is happening and why.
You may note that I dont do advocacy. Nor do I do calls to action. Nor do I tell people what to do. When readers aak me “what should I do” for me thats a really tough question because I want people to be responsible for their own actions once they have read and understood the intelligence. I don't see it as my place to play a political role as a resistance leader.
Yesterday I started an advice stack but in order to justify it I did a background to the situation that turned into the coup summary - white house w Soviet flag.
Today I intend to attempt the advice column again! In thinking how to approach it, I think I've settled on writing it as i woukd advise a personal friend not a national leader.
Dunkirk was as close as a personal message as I get. I have a 1930s / 1940s parallel timeline to current events going on in my head all the time. That posting was more about a mood. The film clip and Nimrod (a theme of mine) evoke doom. We know that Dunkirk was a triumph but only because of unity at home. The contrast to America today could not be more stark. The Nazis are not in France plotting to invade England. Today the Nazis own Washington DC. They run the most powerful executive apparatus, supported by the most powerul arms, on earth. In my estimation, the resistance ended on election day. Ever since has been a lament.
The Nazis faced resistance movements. However, these only came into their own in support of invading forces. Without Allied support prior to invasion and the act of invasion itself, resistance to the Nazis would have gone no where. As i keep repeating “there is no America, to come and save America”. In other words, without great powers willing or even able to invade America and engage in regime change to restore the consututional order, normal America passed the point of no return on election day.
The only hope, is implosion. Maga stupidity and infighting resulting in large scale shifts back to support of the constitution at both elite and mass levels.
Thats my assessment of the predicament. I cantn good conscience advise people to charge the machine guns by giving them false hope that such an act would make a whit of difference.
Im not a spiritual adviser or political leader. Im just a national security analyst who explains where we are. How the public uses that information is up to them.
Adam,
Have you considered
that you could be
correct but wrong?
My Dunkirk Spirit
will never die.
Neither will that
of many of my fellow Americans.
We are children
of Tom Paine
and Todd Beamer.
We never declare doom
even when it stares us
in the face.
Yes you are correct.
Doom is staring us in the face.
Do you think we do not already
KNOW that?
A writer has a higher calling
than to state horrendous facts.
You were made
to be more than this.
A writer's calling
is to keep the flame of freedom
from going out,
even if it burns only
in a few

to my thoughts.
I will honor it

that it deserves.
