The partisan political assault on the military as "woke" (undefined, but really a racist dog whistle) has been a triumph of anti-American propaganda. Those espousing this position have successfully sowed discord in the ranks and generated doubt among the American people about the unity of our armed forces.
Who does this benefit?
Xi and Putin.
This is part of the Steve Bannon’s playbook. The self avowed Leninist has been very public that his primary objective is to destroy the "administrative state" - which is Bannon’s pejorative for functional constitutional government.
The first step in changing long held bipartisan public beliefs is propaganda.
“The Democrats don’t matter,” Bannon told author Michael Lewis. “The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”
It has worked. Very well indeed. See the results in this new article by gallup that charts the plummeting faith in our military.
Politics used to stop at the waters edge. No more. That cherished long standing bi-partisan rule as been thoroughly trashed by anti-American extremists flooding the zone.
When a man who knows how to throw a football but not much else (national security expertise 0) who made millions off the back of unpaid black labor announces “White Nationalism” defines what it means to "be an American"; when the same man is made out to be a hero for disrupting command and control of the military by political extremists who asked for pardons for their role in the attempted coup against the United States; then America has a really deep problem.
If you respond Tuberville had no clue what “White Nationalist” means and later disavowed racism (only after being called-out BTW), and that all is now copacetic, you really don’t know how the politics of distraction and disunity works. Or you might support White Nationalism. As is your right.
I do not support White Nationalism or Christian nationalism or any individual politician of any party. If you choose to put race or religion of an individual ahead or above all else, I support your right to do so but I disagree with that position.
Instead, I state here as clearly as I can that I support the ideas against which these forces of disunity, hatred, discord, and division are arraigned. I support no politician ahead of the law.
I support constitution and the ideals upon which it was created, principally,
"that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
I am a Constitution Nationalist.1 After nearly two decades working with the US military, I can attest that the only thing I was asked by the state to swear allegiance to was the constitution, and that I did so willingly and without reservation, because I genuinely believed in the ideals upon which this country was founded.
My colleagues never spoke about partisan political issues. Ever. Did we discuss issues of national security from different viewpoints? Absolutely. But we defended them with evidence, presented in a logical argument, and were open to different interpretations and viewpoints so long as they made sense. I worked in PME so I was at the pointy end of the rational thought spear. Our jobs was to nourish and encourage critical thinking and alternative viewpoints that could be justified by evidence and presented logically.
Attacking the military with partisan slurs is a clever trick that helps sow disunity, but it’s not a new trick. Google:
“McCarthyism and attacking President Eisenhower [and/or the US Army] for being a communist agent of influence.”
Those using the trick know the military can not respond to because it would be partisan to do so. Put another way, any response to partisanship will be painted as evidence of partisanship. It’s a lose-lose for the DOD and the extremists know it.
The most incredible thing about all this “flooding the zone” is it comes from about 20 loudmouth fanatics. The vast majority of elected representatives on that side of politics are as disgusted by this enemy propaganda as I am, but they are too afraid to say so because they have been told they will get primaried. Thats a genuine threat and it results in ever more extremism being drawn into the party.
It results in completely insane ideas being presented as what is best for the country. Like stopping pro-Europe, Pro-NATO, pro-democracy and freedom Ukraine from winning its war against the most monstrous Russian tyranny since Stalin.
When the party of Ronald Reagan in effect calls on a Russian dictator to “put up that wall and kill all those inside it who seek freedom” you know America has changed fundamentally and not for the good. Not for the good of American national interests or for the good of mankind.
With all its power and might, an America that is set against the good of mankind is a very dangerous thing. This is what these extremists want because in the end, whether they realize it or not, they are just propaganda pawns for our enemies who seek our destruction, thereby extinguishing the light upon the hill for all mankind.
