Olympus has fallen - Maga is in control of the Capitol
It took two years to the day, of constant attacks free from consequences, for the forces of insurrection to turn defeat into victory in the battle of Jan 6. The same leadership behind the first insurrection, who attempted to steal an election and instal a dictator, who begged for pardons for their treason, again held democracy hostage this week. The latest ransacking of the Capitol took place on the second anniversary of their original sin. This time, the second battle of Jan against democracy succeeded.
Last time, the insurrectionists didn't make it to the floor of the House of Representatives. This time they were elected to it.
Six insurrectionists stole the election of Speaker. They have created a servile puppet who will push their agenda of destruction because they are holding a gun to his head. He has agreed to all of their demands and likely much more that is unannounced because they do not yet want to reveal the depths of their depravity. Reportedly these include
Impeachment of Biden/Harris
Impeachment of all other Administration and judicial officials they deem enemies
Show trials on all of the above and many others
Breaking the debt ceiling
Defunding social security
Defunding medicare
Defunding the DOJ
Defunding the FBI & DHS
Defunding those elements of the IRS that might reach their donors
Defunding Ukraine which has destroyed most of the Russian army and is on track to achieve regime change in the world’s most corrupt and violent dictatorship, at the cost of funding a few squadrons of F22s.
The insurrection and it's object of coup d'etat will now be a project coming from inside the House. Do not be surprised if at some point they pull that trigger and attempt to install Trump. The trial balloon has already been raised by the leaders of this second insurrection.1 One thing is certain, the future will be filled with chaos, confusion, and continued attempts to prevent justice from reaching it's final accounting on the coup leaders.
Thankfully there is the bulwark of the Senate and the Presidential veto. There is also the protection of extremist overreach. The path of destruction they will cut through to social fabric of America will hopefully be sufficient for the people to send them packing for good in 24 months time.
A leader rises in the midst of darkness to meet the moment
The fascist tumult that destroyed so much on the second battle of Jan 6 last night, delivered national attention to a stunning study in contrast that might have otherwise gone sight unseen for years.
Last night, a new beacon of hope shone from the floor of the House. Rep Jeffries delivered the finest oratory this country has heard in a very long time. Deep in substance, pitch perfect, respectful but pointed, it's message powerful and needed, flawlessly delivered. It demarcated boundaries between right and wrong, it offered a hand of collaboration while cautioning the purpose of working together must be for the commonwealth and the common good.
It would have been the finest State of the Union speech in a generation had it been delivered on such an occasion. It was presidential. It's speaker will one day be president. The country could not need leadership of that caliber more than it does as it confronts the consequences of the second battle of Jan 6.
Although the lackluster response and rapidly falling ratings of Trump may show the moment has passed. But in the coming chaos possibility lies.
