The leading GOP Presidential candidate for 2024 just declared that America is the greatest threat to western civilization and needs regime change. He announced plans to ally with Russia and withdrawal the US from NATO and remove anyone who disagrees with him from positions of authority in the State Dept, DOD, IC.1 These actions are in addition to his previous declaration of his intent to terminate the constitution and the rule of law. That declaration followed his failed coup attempt. When his compound was raided by authorities they found long concealed Top Secret code-word nuclear documents only seen by about 6 people in government. In response to this discovery of 700+ pages of highly classified material, senior members of his party and all their media outlets called for civil war to cover up the crime. This was a natural extension of a steady drumbeat of threats of violence coming from the party since 2015. The culmination of all of these deliberate tactics over the years has been a deep erosion of norms of civil and political discourse and a growing willingness to engage in violence to attain power at all costs.
Trump fatigue - exhaustion from never ending escalation of what appear to be absurd accusations and threats - creates a permission structure for this malignant threat to the constitution to be ignored by normies and worshipped by maga.
Normies think Trump is a has-been windbag who is yesterdays news. Dem normies focus on Biden’s achievements, and GOP normies focus on Desantis, as the pathway to normality. Ironically, normies seeing Trump as a comically inept loser, provides him with excellent cover to continue to issue war-footing messages to his followers. Normies cant take any of it seriously. Just like they could not take overt threats of violence before Jan 6 seriously. Just like they never believed he could win in 2016. By now, one would have thought normies might be a bit more aware of the dire threat hidden in plain sight. Trump’s clownishness combined with blind faith in American exceptionalism magically preventing fascism from ever happening here, continues to keep normies in a deep inactive lullaby state. Just where Trump wants them.
On the other, more important hand, Maga see a vengeful god ready to extract retribution for all the wrongs their enemies have imposed on them (like a stolen election and a ‘woke’ culture war thats attacking their children). CWII has written at length on the powerful grip the fascist demagogue has on his followers. It is not a normal relationship between politician and people. It’s in a whole different category altogether which is why it is so dangerous. Desantis has no mesmerizing charismatic grip and no ability to command maga the way Trump does. Maga are willing to die for their savior.2
There would have been no Tea Party, no Trump, and no Jan 6, without the constant flow of incitement from Fox.3
What is supposed to happen when the most watched channel with the highest ratings in the country tells its audience an election was stolen, that the country is under attack by communists, and that the only way to prevent the total destruction of America is to “retake the country”?
Fox knew the people they invited on to their shows to pedal these narratives were "lying lunatics". The most trusted Fox presenters knew "there was no evidence of fraud.. none". Despite telling one another that "I hate [Trump] passionately", these same presenters amplified and constantly repeated Trump's lie that the election was stolen. Here is a gallery of internal communications by Fox propagandists showing their duplicity and mendacity.
They abused the trust of their audience to incite them to insurrection on Jan 6. These same people - millions of trusting patriotic Americans - remain unaware that any of this has happened because Fox is not reporting the news of Fox’s complicity in the coup plot. Unsurprisingly, the audience remain certain that Trump is the legitimately elected president and that American democracy has suffered a tremendous blow from which it will not recover unless they become personally active in righting the wrongs committed by America-hating communists.
Now their leader has told them that America under Biden has become the greatest threat to world peace and can only be stopped by regime change. These extremist statements and a galaxy of supporting conspiracy theories and hoaxes continue to be spewed uninterrupted by their trusted news source.
The Fox population is past the point of no return. Even if a trusted source or even Fox itself, told them the truth, they would not believe it and assume it was an aberration or worse - a false flag propaganda plot.
This is what happens in the wake of years of brain washing. It would take years of counter-programing by trusted sources to reverse. That is simply not going to happen. Even if Fox loses billions in the Dominion lawsuit - the source of the revealing internal communications - they will spin it as yet another conspiracy of mainstream media and their elite supporters (like Murdoch and Trump are men of the people!). If Fox backs off the lies, the even bigger conspiracy theory machines (Newsmax, Breitbart, OAN) will take their place.
Instead of being the strong man the propagandists who hate him have purported him to be, Trump knows he is cornered, vulnerable and has become increasingly desperate. The more overtly fascist his rhetoric becomes the greater pressure he is under behind the scenes. Prior to Jan 6, his militias knew “stand back and stand by” was a warning order. They admitted so the very next day in social media and since in court.
Declaring the Biden Administration the greatest threat to civilization and calling for termination of the constitution and regime change in America is a call to civil war. His supporters will never know or believe it is all a lie. It will not be long now before Trump directly calls his militia and supporters to the streets to kill other Americans. CWII even wonders if this call has been pre-recorded ready for release in case he is detailed by law enforcement.
This is an incredibly dangerous situation.

After this story went out it was revealed that various law enforcement agencies are in discussions about how to hand Trump over for indictment. This would explain the outburst that is the subject of today's CWII post.
The thesis of the book is violence will attend his arrest. For a state matter maybe not. For the Jack Smith arrest, likely.

He has laid out a comprehensive plan to fire all policy making positions in the national security establishment and replace them with loyalists who will not question his decisions. His desire to end NATO is on the record in multiple places. He declared his allegiance to Putin over the US intelligence community in Helsinki. After attempting to weaken Ukraine before the war, Trump hailed Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as a savvy stroke of genius. Just this week yet another controversy has erupted over Russian money propping up his failed social media venture. Corrupt Russian support of Trump in the 2020 election continue to echo with the recent sentencing of a Trump official for illegal campaign contributions from Russian sources. Trumps links with the Russians go back to the 1980s. For example, Deutsche Bank, fined for its support of Russian mobsters who were cutouts for the FSB and GRU, was the only bank in the world to make loans to Trump after he lost a billion dollars. There is no commercial explanation for the deals DB made with Trump and others in his circle (Kushner most prominently).
Many have already died for Trump directly in association with J6 and indirectly by following his advice not to take simple health precautions against the worst global pandemic in a hundred years.
